1st/2nd/3rd person paragraph
first and second person paragraph
Have you seen these website statistics? Some of them are pretty made like. I mean like they say that 93 percent of us teenagers between 12 and 17 go online and then 63 percent of us go online everyday, thats a canny few of us... but like even further then that supposedly 55 PERCENT of us have given away personal information and stuff to people that we have never met before thats pretty mad that.
3rd person paragraph
With recent studies interesting and almost worrying statistics have been produced, one example of the interesting statistics is that between the ages of 12 and 17 93% of these teens go online and to even further lengths 63% of teens go online everyday. However in terms of more worrying statistics 55% of these teens have shared personal details with a stranger they met through the internet.
Language skills used to adapt the text to a different audience
for the first paragraph which was aimed at a lower demographic I used various linguistic features such as the use of what can be described as slang or 'local' dialect such as 'mad' and 'canny' to appeal to a younger (teenager) based TA I used words commonly used by the TA such as the often use of 'like'. I also made the text seem more informal with shorter sentences which allowed the text to be read at a faster pace which would also appeal to the TA as well as this the use of capitals for the word 'percent' was used to ensure an alarming point was made. Overall the use of these features was able to create a rather informal, colloquial tone.
With the second paragraph the use of longer sentences (in comparison to the first paragraph) allowed a more formal and slow paced read this is done so it can appeal more to the higher demographic (in other words my TA here). I do not use any dialect or slang within this paragraph as I am aiming at a more educated audience (so that of a higher demographic).
